Blazers end the week with 2 W’s

The Cincinnati Trailblazers ended a long week of baseball with two games against the Ft. Wayne Crusaders on Saturday played in a torrential downpour at Flash Field in Hamersville, Ohio running their record to 8-0 on the year. The Blazers were down 4-1 in the third inning when the game was suspended for a 40 minute delay. After both teams got together to work on the field and got back to work. Junior Eli Stratton came in and finished off a brilliant game. The team fought back from the three run deficit with key hits by Junior Rurik Vaske, Freshman Michael Treft and a brilliant delayed steal by Sophomore Captain Jacob McJilton and Sophomore Cole Ferguson. McJilton took the base early drawing the throw from the pitcher. As the pitcher threw to 2nd Ferguson, while on third, broke for home. Both worked the play to perfection making great slides to avoid the tag. Game one ended with the Blazers winning by the score of 10-5.

Game two was shortened to 5 innings as the umpires called the game due to an unplayable field. By OHSAA rules the game was considered completed with the Blazers winning 6-0. Freshman, Mike Treft made quick work of the Crusaders striking out 9 batters. It was a great team win and the end of a very soggy afternoon.

The team takes on Felicity High School on Tuesday, Landmark Christian on Thursday and then head up to Ft. Wayne for a rematch on Saturday. For more information, as always, head to www.cincinnatitrailblazers.com for more of the action.

AIA Summer Basketball Camps

Here is a reminder of AIA’s line-up of summer camp locations to choose from again this summer. They are all the same as last year!

Each week has a session for Grades 1-4 in the morning (9-Noon) with a registration fee of $95. Grades 4-9 will be in session each afternoon (1-5:00) with a registration fee of $119. (4th Grade chooses between the two)

Flyers are attached to print, fill in, and mail in with a deposit to reserve a spot. There is also online registration at aiabasketball.org “Camps”.

If you are now too old to attend, please tell a child you know. Let them have the same opportunity that you had at one of our camps.

There is a scholarship form that can be filled out.

Blazer Baseball Update

The Cincinnati Trailblazers Varsity Baseball team continued to roll this week over Middletown Christian and the Noblesville Lions. On Monday at Athletes in Action, Grady Stadium, the Blazers were led by freshmen Michael Treft. Treft had 11 K’s on his way to a perfect game. His battery mate freshmen Seth Bular, led the Blazers with a single, a double, and 3 RBI’s in the game.

On Wednesday, the team continued their season with a double header against the Noblesville Lions. In game one, the Blazers jumped out to a 12 to 0 lead with hits by nearly everyone in the line up in the first two innings. Junior Captain Jacob McJilton led the team on the mound striking out 3 and only giving up 1 hit. He also went 2-2 with a HR. The Blazers went on to win game one, by a score of 16-6.

In game two, Junior Captain Peter Walsh took the mound for the first time of the season and was dominant from the first batter he saw striking him out on his way to a two hitter with 4 strikeouts. He also belted one of three in the park HR’s. Junior Captain Eli Stratton and Freshman Michael Treft also had inside the park HR’s. Sophomore Cole Ferguson and Freshman Christian Bacon also each had multiple hits in the game. The team went a combined 20 for 42 behind the plate. They went on to win game two by a score of 19-7.

The team next plays the Ft. Wayne Crusaders @ Flash Field in Hamersville, Ohio on Saturday. For more details on future games, head to www.cincinnatitrailblazers.com.

Trailblazer Baseball Update

After dropping a heartbreaker to New Richmond High School 9-5 in the opening scrimmage of the season, the Blazers have gotten off to a 2-0 start right out of the gate with wins over Xenia Christian 13-0 and MVCA 22-1. In the opener against Xenia Christian the Blazers we lead by a strong outing by Christian Bacon, Freshman, on the mound. Bacon had 4 strikeouts and only gave up one hit in 4 innings pitched. Freshman newcomer Michael Treft and Junior Pete Walsh lead the team in hitting for the game both going 2-2 at the plate.

The Blazers then played MVCA on April 3rd winning 22-1. Junior Eli Stratton led the team on the mound striking out 9 batters in 4 innings and only gave up 2 hits and one earned run. Juniors Jacob McJilton, Pete Walsh, Freshman Michael Treft led the team with strong performances on the offensive end. McJilton went 2-3 with 3 RBI’s and Walsh went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s, while Treft continued his timely hitting going 3-4 with 3 RBI’s. The Blazers would like to thank all those that came out to Riverside Park to watch the game.

The Blazers are off the rest of the week. They return to action next week with games against Middletown Christian, Nobelsville Lions, Green County Thunder and the Ft. Wayne Crusaders. Check us out on the web @ www.cincinnatitrailblazers.com for times and locations.

Cincinnati Trailblazers Home School Girls Spring Volleyball Clinic 2012

Join the “Blazers” for our spring volleyball clinic with coach Kristin Leggett! Bringing her experience as a collegiate player and her love of home schooled (ALL) girls, Kristin aspires to encourage YOU to love playing volleyball, too! It’s designed to teach beginners the basics of the sport, as well as reinforce and refresh the skills of players with more experience. There will be drills, skills and games. The Trailblazers are excited to invite home schooled girls from 4^th through 12^th grades! Bring a friend, too! Do not delay and SIGN UP TODAY!!!

Registration Procedure

Email Kristin Leggett (KKL8662@cinci.rr.com) with your player’s intent to attend including name and age/grade and player level (i.e. Beginner/Elementary (4-6^th grade), Junior high player, Junior Varsity player, Varsity player) Please sign up for their current grade!
Forms and checks must be completed and brought in on the first day of the clinic.

Clinic Location: Kids First on East Kemper!

Schedule: April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, May 7

Session 1 (4-6^th and beginners) 2-3:15pm,

Session 2 (7-12^th) 3:15-5pm

Cost: $60/4^th-6^th (and junior high beginners)

$65/7^th-12^th grade players

JV Boys win Ohio State Tourney

The JV Boys won the U16 2012 State of Ohio Christian and Home School Basketball Championship in Columbus, OH this past weekend!

In the first round, the Trailblazers defeated New Day Academy 52-38. They followed that with a win over East Dayton Christian 48-33. In the championship game against Hearts for Jesus Christ, they started out slow, but recovered to win 54-37.

Congrats to David, Malachi, Jerry, Grant, Jon, Michael, Matt, Nat, & Christian!

Gold Team Exhibition

The Gold Team will have an exhibition on Saturday, February 25, at 4:45pm at Sports Plus. The exhibition will be in between the varsity girls’ and varsity boys’ games.

Come out and cheer on the Gold Team as they demonstrate the skills they have been practicing all season.

Shootathon Fundraiser

We are planning to do the shootathon Feb 11th at Kids First. This is the last home game at Kids First for the season. It will be a busy day, but is the only time available. We would like to get a feel for how many are interested. Please email your PTC by Feb. 4 if you are planning on doing this.

Attached is a form for sponsors. We will give each shooter 10 minutes to shoot as many shots as they can. People can sponsor for a flat fee, per made shot, per made shot with a cap or whatever.

The money goes to the shooter for application towards his or her fees. The organization will not be collecting the money.

Again, we’d like to get a headcount of potential shooters by Feb 4th. If somebody comes after that, they will still likely be able to participate (unless there is an overwhelming response), but we’d like to at least have an idea of how many kids we’ll have!

Varsity Boys rematch of 3OT game against PACE

The Varsity Boys opened this season with a triple overtime win over PACE. Come out tonight for an exciting rematch. The game starts at 6pm at The Sphere/Sports Plus.

The U14 Boys also play today at 4pm at Rockdale Elementary against Queen City Prophets.
