GIRLS Coaches 2023-24 Season

Brent Peters - Girls Head Coach
[email protected]

Coach Brent Peters has been coaching basketball for 18+ years, and he has been coaching with the Cincinnati Homeschool Trailblazers for 7 of those years.  He himself had a successful High School career by being a starter his junior year and winning the State Championship.  During that tenure with the Trailblazers, 3 of his teams have won the Regional Homeschool Championship, and his JV team is the current, reigning back-to-back champion in 2020 and 2021.  Coach Peters has a passion for helping and motivating the players to exceed even their own expectations of what they can do with a basketball both individually and as a team.  His coaching style also teaches players to be humble and accept the worldly success and failures that God brings, because everything we do is for His glory, not ours.  Brent has been married for 25 years and has 4 kids, which have all graduated or still playing with the Homeschool Trailblazer organization.

Steve Wheeler - Girls Assistant Coach
[email protected]

Coach Steve Wheeler has been the girls varsity assistant coach for 5 years, and he has been coaching overall for 25+ years.  After coaching his 4 other children at various levels of basketball and other sports, his youngest daughter Anne played for the Homeschool Trailblazers while he was assistant coach, and now Anne plays for Cedarville University in Ohio.  He also coached for 4 years at Moeller High School.  Even though all of Steve’s children have graduated from High School, he still enjoys the Trailblazer players, coaches and parents, and he comments that he loves coaching to see the players faces light up when they achieve another key skill of the game.  Steve played varsity basketball and baseball at Moeller High School, and he played college basketball at Cincinnati State.  Steve has been married for 35 years and has his own team of 5 children.

Ronnie Grandison - Girls Assistant Coach

Coach Ronnie Grandison has been training and teaching kids basketball in the Cincinnati area for over 20 years. Ronnie is a former NBA player and has played with the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks and New York Knicks.  He also played NCAA Division 1 Basketball for the University of New Orleans.  At New Orleans, Ronnie led the Privateers to their first Division 1 “Big Dance” tournament appearance and a NCAA Division 1 top 20 ranking.  Ronnie played professionally in the CBA where, in 1994, he was voted Most Valuable Player. He has played basketball all over the world: Spain, Venezuela, the Philippines, Israel, and Australia, and others. Ronnie has a passion for teaching basketball and the principles of life through the game. Ronnie has been married for 26 years and has his own team of 5 children.

Josh Snider - Girls Assistant Coach

In his first year with the Trailblazers, the 14U team earned a number 2 seed at the Regional Homeschool Tournament and only lost to the eventual Regional Champs. Prior to coaching with the Trailblazers, he was the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Cincinnati Christian University for three seasons. He led the Eagles to the Regional Finals and coached three All Conference players. He was also an Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Wright State University for four years. He helped the team reach the Horizon League Finals. He coached four players who were all conference and would go on to play professional basketball in Europe. As a player at Cincinnati Christian University, he was a three-year starter and two-time captain. He helped lead the Eagles to a Regional Championship, Sub-National Championship and three National Tournament bids, finishing 5th, 6th and 7th in the nation.
